Hello, I’m Yolande. So this is the bit where I need to tell you a bit more about me. Well most importantly I’m the mother of 2 amazing children, Danielle and Jason. They are the inspiration behind everything I do and fill me with pride every single day.
Photographing families is my absolute passion especially children (as well as the furry ones). This is much more than a job to me. I’ve been in business since 2006 and have photographed over 2000 families, yet I still get excited about every single shoot I do. I love the fact I am freezing a moment in time for families and I take that responsibility seriously. If you miss that special smile or that look - it's gone.
My photography style has been described as natural, expressive and beautiful. I love to capture children and families being truly themselves (I try to undo the "say cheese" smiles) and bring out their individual beauty!
My work has been used in shopfitting, websites and printing media.
I also do workshops for parents to show them how to take great photos of their kids when I’m not around. You can also book a home session - during week day mornings for a group of friends.
My journey started in Cape Town and now I find myself in Jozi. When I haven’t got a camera in my hand, you can normally find me going for long walks or enjoying fun in the pool with my kids, laughing with friends (normally over a bottle of JC!) or in the workshop timbering. I love to spend time in the workshop renovating, building and painting furniture or frames. I always joke that my cooking isn't as good as my mom's because I spent more time with my dad in the garage than with her in the kitchen.
Here are some of the things I love, and some I don’t!
What I love…
The outdoors (especially rivers, forests and the beach, good food and wine ...and definitely bubbly, people who laugh easily, sunshine and rainy days, hugging my kids, to wake my kids up in the morning, tucking them in at night, reading a Nicholas Sparks story, discovering new places, writing another children's book (hopefully "Lagbek" will be available soon as a children's book series), talking. To finish something I started.
What I don’t love… Being around unfriendly, arrogant, rude people. Finding a dead animal or bird in the road. Unfairness...
I hope you decided that I am the right photographer for you and you are making the call to book a session.
